In terms of qualifications and training, I have degrees in education and social science, and have completed two years of a degree in person-centred counselling at the Metanoia Institute in London. I was originally trained in counselling skills and certificated by the CPCAB, subsequently being trained and certificated by CRUSE as a bereavement counsellor.
I was also for five years a Trustee of a specialist Post Traumatic Stress Disorder counselling charity, becoming very involved in the provision of services to many people suffering with PTSD from military and emergency services as well as domestic backgrounds.
I work in accordance with the standards and ethics of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, the ethical framework, and hold professional indemnity insurance for the protection of clients and myself.
My professional interests in counselling are focussed on the particular issues of bereavement and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, although I work with clients presenting a wide range of issues.. I am also interested in carrying out practice-based research into the psychological outcomes of counselling with particular groups of clients.
Potential clients may want to note that my life experience includes a 25-year career in Information Technology, working in software development through to project management, in a variety of industry sectors. I am also a qualified pilot, and have worked with a number of young people as a business mentor on behalf of the Princes Trust.
