ASB Classic announces top players 11/21/2007 3:04 PM
Vera Zvonareva will be the top seed at the ASB Classic; she is currently ranked world number 22
A balance of youth and experience is tournament director Richard Palmer's highlight of the ASB Tennis Classic field.
The players for the premier New Zealand women's tournament have been released at its launch in Auckland today.
At 22 in the world, Russian Vera Zvonareva will be the top seed. She was a beaten finalist this year.
Former champion and world number 26 Katarina Srebotnik is seeded second, with Russian glamour girl Maria Kirilenko the third seed and ranked number 30.
The eight seeds are all ranked inside the world's top 44, with 16-year-old Austrian Tamira Paszek at world number 41 a player to watch.
Ironically, former world number one Lindsay Davenport, now ranked 72, was right on the cut off mark of automatic entry.
