What is remote unlocking?
Remote unlocking is using the keys on your handset to unlock your mobile phone enabling it to work on all networks.
Why do I need to unlock my mobile phone?
When you purchase your mobile phone, the network you subscribe to will lock it so that it may only be used on it's frequency. When it comes time for you to sell the mobile or use another network, you find that the sim card won't work. Remote unlocking enables you use any other network's sim card in your mobile.
When I have paid, what will I be sent?
You will be sent codes, which are generated by our up to date software. These will be sent to you via email with instructions.
Can my unlock codes be used on another mobile of the same make and model?
No. This is because we generate your individual code using your IMEI number, the network it is locked to and the model. Each phone has it's own unique IMEI number, hence the codes are unique.
Will my network bar my mobile phone if I have it unlocked?
No. Your network will actually supply the unlocking codes for you at a fee of at least £15.00. We generate the codes for you, using the same software but for a fraction of the cost.
My mobile has been barred/blacklisted/blocked can you still unlock it?
NO! We do not and cannot unblock barred mobile phones as this is illegal so please don't ask.
Is remote unlocking illegal?
Unlocking a mobile phone to enable it to use another networks sim card is perfectly legal in the UK. When a mobile phone is created, it is designed to use any networks sim card. However your network provider adds a lock to the phone so that you cannot use a competitors network.
Can any phone be remotely unlocked?
NO. Some older Nokia models cannot be remotely unlocked and only a cable solution can help. Some older, single-band phones can only be unlocked to networks that share their band. Check your manual for detail about your phone.
If I try the unlock codes the first time and I enter the code wrong, can I just keep trying?
No. You have five attempts to unlock your mobile, if you make a mistake the first time it will count towards to phone's five attempts. If after the fifth attempt your phone hasn't been unlocked, only a cable unlocking solution will help.
Is UnBLOCKING a mobile illegal
YES! Your mobile phone's IMEI number is a unique identification code of that individual phone. The Mobile Telephones (Re-programming) Act 2002 makes it very clear that the re-programming of a mobile phone IMEI number is against the law and punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or a large fine. Unlocking your phone for use with other sim cards is not connected in any way to re-programming a phones IMEI number.
I have submitted my phone details, how long will it take to receive the codes back?
Codes and instructions are sent instantly, but please allow up to an hour before contacting me.
Once my phone is unlocked, will my network know I have it done?
No, your network will not know unless you tell them. If you have it repaired
there is a possibility your network could find out you have had it unlocked.
Will I be able to use the phone on my original network?
Yes, you will be able to use your phone on any network which your phone supports. For example, if you have a 6310i and you have it unlocked, you will then be able to use it with any GSM network in the world. American / Canadian phones (e.g. 3590 / 8390) you would only be able to use there. This is because they operate on 1900GSM, the rest of the world supports 900 / 1800GSM. Please refer to Nokia's website for details on where your phone will work.
I have received my code. When I type it in, it displays 'Code Error', 'Not Allowed' or 'Cannot undo Restriction'.
If it comes back displaying 'Code Error', it means you have probably submitted incorrect details. Either the IMEI number or the network you selected is probably incorrect. Do not try entering the codes repeatedly. E-mail us back with details. If your phone displays 'Not Allowed' or 'Cannot undo Restriction', the counter in the phone is probably locked. You will need to get the phone unlocked through hardware.
Can using this service damage my phone?
No, using our service cannot damage your phone. The worst case scenerio is that you could enter an incorrect code more than four times. If you do, you will lock the counter in the phone. You will need to get the phone unlocked through hardware.
Will unlocking my phone affect my warranty?
In theory it could affect your warranty as the service is not endorsed by Nokia or any of its affiliated companies. However, since we have been unlocking phones, if a fault has ocurred after the fact, we have never heard of an instance where a network / carrier would not repair or replace a phone. Cellular companies make the majority of their money through usage, not on the handset itself. It is in their interest to repair or replace a faulty phone.
