2000 - The Bells of Corneville
For the millennium and also the Society's eightieth year we decided to revive a show that deserves a much wider audience. Still regularly performed in France "Les Cloches de Corneville" by Robert Planquette ran continuously in London for two years from 1878. Lyme Regis chose to perform a new English translation by Geoffrey Wilson, who celebrated his eightieth birthday by coming to watch our show on the opening night. The Society has also performed the original version (in 1957).
